This is simply a short message to wish you all a happy Australia Day Weekend!

Just to let you know that the NobleDentist offices will be closed on Monday. So, any membership applications received over the weekend and Monday will be be processed and posted on the Tuesday after the weekend. Any emails and telephone messages received over the weekend and Monday will be addressed on the Tuesday as well.

In the event you have made an urgent appointment, simply email us via the Contact Us page or leave a message on the voicemail stating the practice name, suburb, day of appointment, and time of appointment and we will make the appropriate arrangements come Tuesday morning.

Please also note that the NobleDentist website will be undergoing a number of improvements in coming weeks. We will also be adding quite a number of new locations throughout Australia in January to June.

This is just a short note to thank people who take the time to send me emails.

Each day I receive emails regarding various issues. I certainly appreciate the emails alerting me to a technical glitch regarding the website or about the service itself. These emails are always welcome. It’s virtually impossible to monitor the website 24/7. And usually a problem that occurs is a result of an external factor. I therefore appreciate receiving an email highighting a problem. That way I can resolve the issue quickly.

It also isn’t easy to monitor the level of member satisfaction unless I receive emails containing constructive criticism or singing praises. It is certainly important for me to know those things you believe are being done well and those items that need some attention. That way I know whether any changes need to be made. I also enjoy hearing from intelligent people who disagree with me. So please keep those emails coming.

Each time ANZAC day rolls around I am reminded that great people suffer for others.

Last year I attended the dawn service in Brisbane and was moved as I contemplated the enormity of the sacrifices these men made for others and the fine way they represented Australians at home. I will cherish their efforts and be eternally grateful to them.

My gratitude also extends to the Australians in uniform who currently serve us. Australians continue to participate in military and humanitarian efforts in Iraq, Afghanistan, East Timor, Bougainville, the Middle East, Pakistan, and the Solomon Islands. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families.

Celebrating Australia Day reminds me to consider how tremendously privileged I am to call myself an Australian. I have always felt a sense of pride to be Australian. And for several years now, I have felt a growing sense of responsibility that accompanies the privilege.

In 2003/04, I had the good fortune to travel around the world. During this time I must of said ‘G’day Mate’ to so many foreigners that it would be too numerous to count. So many doors opened for me when I would inform people that I was an Australian (or more often that I was an ‘Aussie’). People would invite me for drinks, into their homes for a meal, and to lodge with them during my stay. On the odd occasion, they even offered their daughters – was sometimes a bit overwhelming.

Foreigners were genuinely fascinated with Australia. They praised our wonderful climate, the scenery, our values, lifestyle, opportunities, and our laid back and friendly character. Some even shared with me their desire to move to Australia. It was an honour to be apart of something that others felt was special. It was also clear to me that I was benefiting from other Australians who had created these wonderful sentiments.

Whilst I enjoyed traveling the globe, I was very happy to be returning home to Australia.

So whether you are participating in a ute competition, the great dummy spitting championship, the great aussie thong throw or simply having a barbeque, have a wonderful Australia Day.

Hopefully you all had a pleasant festive season. I certainly did. And now Im looking forward to 2006.
